We can say that really the radio club was made in January of the 2002; if spoken of its official presentation. But really its origin is back in 1999, when Alexandre (HC1AJQ) and Sergey (HC1ACW) started to go together to the DX-expeditions in a different provinces of Ecuador; around the seaside of a Pacific Ocean, getting down to the jungles, going up to the Andes, where the most interesting work was from the volcanoes at a high of 3800-4500 meters.    Then Andy (NP3D), which is a complete fan of competitions and IOTA, started to came to Ecuador. And it was after his appearance that was born the idea of building the DX-holiday hotel in the coast, at the HC4 zone. Which construction was already started at the 2002.
The idea and the purpose of making such club is to give an opportunity to all of the radio actives around the world to be able to have a QSO with this country, which does not often appears in air. And the reason of it is that traditionally the radio actives of Ecuador use their radios to just stay in a contact locally, like with their families or people on their farms, etc; but the radio sport itself does not provoke a big enthusiasm in them. And sure there are some reasons for that, which we would not be able to understand. Also the big problem is getting QSL- cards from Ecuador , which has its reasons too: first that anything, it costs $3 for an Ecuadorian radio actives to send a QSL-card directly to another country. It is completely different here, it is not Europe or USA, here the costs for such things are much higher, due to a small country. All of the QSL spots are in the private radio clubs, and those are not really to be trusted and besides that you have to pay a lot to be a member of it. What we will try to do is to erase this deficiency, also give more Information about the activity of different stations working from the territory of Ecuador. That is for we created the «DX of the day! » link, so you can find there the operative Information, like who will be in which band in what hour.

We hope that you liked our idea and that it will be a pleasure for you to meet in QSO with the radio actives of our country! We will see you on air!

With respect, Russian Radio Club of Ecuador . 73! K
